FIRST LEGO League Challenge Teams 57186 and 60670
Being on a FIRST LEGO League Challenge team is more than just building with Legos.
The teams are for 4th- 8th grade (ages 9-14).
Teams are made with up to 10 kids each.
Each student must work closely with the team members to do a research project, prepare presentations, build and program an autonomous robot, and learn real world skills all while having lots of fun.
For the project, they will explore an actual problem that today’s scientists and engineers are trying to solve, develop an innovative solution to that problem (either by creating something that doesn’t exist or building upon something that does), and share their findings with others.
All team members will have the opportunity to do some building and programming.
Each member is expected to actively contribute to both the research project and presentations.
They will work as a team to prepare for the regional competition in November, where they will compete with other teams from around the area.
They are Judged in four areas: Core Values, Robot Programming and Design Presentation, Innovation Project Presentation, and Robot Game Performance.
Just like the real world, there will be some unexpected results and the stress that comes with it.
Some teams will be selected to advance to the state competition in Denver in December.
A few great teams will be selected at state to advance to the world competition or other national competitions.
